California high school football team pays tribute to cheerleader battling cancer
The sweetest football story of the day -- and maybe the month or even this season -- comes out of Palo Cedro, California. The Foothill High School football team paid tribute to one of the school's cheerleaders when it entered the field for Friday's game.
Ashley Adamietz was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia in August.
As the team came onto the field, each player placed an orange rose at Adamietz's feet. The roses were orange as that's the color designated for leukemia awareness.
The plan was organized by senior football player Ryan Caetano, and the whole team was behind the idea, KRCR reported. "She's part of the Cougar family, so why not let her know that we're all here for her. We are. So I wanted to let that be known to everybody, and especially to her, for what she's going through,” Caetano said.

Adamietz, who has been going through daily chemotherapy treatments, was, “shocked, overwhelmed and speechless,” with all the support.
The school plans to continue to support the cheerleader and has asked everyone to wear orange to the Cougars' next game.
