STANTON, Del. (AP) Calamity Kate, sent off at odds of 54-1, led the whole way, had enough left to hold off Peace and War for a stunning upset in the Grade III $300,000 Delaware Oaks on Saturday. The field included pro-tem division leader Lovely Maria.

Ridden by Edgar Prado, Calamity Kate went to the front right at the start of the mile and a sixteenth race. She was leading after six furlongs in 1:10.4. Lovely Maria, who had raced in mid pack through the early going, ranged up four wide out of the second turn and looked like she would challenge but weakened in the drive and wound up fifth while making her first start since winning the Kentucky Oaks.

Hip Hop N Jazz finished third, a length ahead of Bar of Gold. The time on a fast track was 1:41.6

Kelly Breen trains Calamity Kate, who returned $110.80 while winning her third race from eight starts. She earned $180,000 to raise her career earnings to $345,868
