Cactus League tour: Tempe Diablo Stadium

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Right in the heart of the Valley, you'll find the oldest spring training stadium in Arizona with a beautiful view of Camelback Mountain. Built in 1968 and renovated in 2005, Tempe Diablo Stadium draws thousands each year. It can be seen from Maricopa Highway and is one of the most iconic stadiums of the Cactus League.

One of the most interesting things about the stadium is the "No Standing" line. It spans the entire length of the concourse about 6 feet back from the railings and allows those without reserved seats to stand and watch the game from anywhere on the concourse -- as long as you don't cross the line. If you're lucky enough to grab one of the 20 or so tables that are in this area down the third-base line, you can sit and enjoy the game at low cost. It's also a draw for Angels fans who want to meet new people or mingle with others during the games.

The Tempe Tap Room is a unique area in the stadium, with several different types of brews you won't be able to find at any other spring training park.

On the Friday we visited, all seats were filled and the area behind the "No Standing" line was completely packed with fans and students on Spring Break. All in all, a great centralized location with plenty to offer.
