Cabrera misses third straight game with hip injury

Miguel Cabrera is out of the lineup Thursday afternoon in Chicago due to his aching hip. He's now missed three straight games since aggravating the injury Monday.

On Tuesday, Jim Leyland told reporters that he expected Cabrera to either play Wednesday night or Thursday afternoon, but that has not happened, and Leyland isn't giving any reasons. For the second straight day, he answered all questions about Cabrera's status with "he's not playing."

The only other time that Cabrera has missed three straight games as a Tiger was in 2010, when he sat out the final six games with a sprained ankle.
