Old Dominion improves to 10-1, beats William & Mary 69-62

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Trey Freeman scored 24, Ambrose Mosley 17 and Old Dominion won its seventh straight, beating William & Mary 69-62 on Monday night.

Old Dominion (10-1) broke a 39-all tie with a 13-1 run ending on Jonathan Arledge's jumper to make it 52-40 with 7:57 left.

The Monarchs extended their lead to 14 with 3:16 left, but William & Mary (6-4) had an 11-2 run to get within 63-58 on Omar Prewitt's 3-pointer with 1:42. The Tribe missed their next three 3-point attempts and the Monarchs made 6 of 7 free throws in the final minute.

Denzell Taylor had 10 rebounds and Old Dominion outrebounded William & Mary 41-24.

Marcus Thornton had 22 points, Daniel Dixon scored 16 and Prewitt added 15 for the Tribe. Those three took 36 of William & Mary's 46 field-goal attempts.


Florida Atlantic holds off Eastern Kentucky late, wins 69-66

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) -- Javier Lacunza drilled a 3-pointer with time winding down on the shot clock and Jackson Trapp followed with another 3 to give Florida Atlantic the lead for good in a 69-66 win over Eastern Kentucky Monday night.

Trapp's 3 gave the Owls a 68-62 lead with :27 left.

Eastern Kentucky (6-5), coming off a 28-point win over No. 18 Miami, got a dunk from Ja'Mill Powell and layup from Corey Walden to make it a two-point game. Trapp then missed a pair of free throws to leave the Colonels a chance to tie, but Walden missed a shot from just inside mid-court as time expired.

Trapp finished with 19 points and knocked down 6 of 10 shots from behind the arc to lead Florida Atlantic (6-4). Marquan Botley added 15 points and C.J. Turman 12.

Walden finished with 15 points for Eastern Kentucky, with Eric Stutz and Denzel Richardson each adding 13.


Chattanooga eases past UAB 83-67

CHATANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Greg Pryor scored 18 points and Chattanooga eased past UAB 83-67 on Monday.

Pryor was 9 of 11 from the line. Casey Jones added 14 points and nine rebounds, Ronrico White had 13 points and Justin Tuoyo scored 11 and grabbed 12 boards.

UAB was paced by Robert Brown's 19 points. Hakeem Baxter had 15 and Nick Norton added 12.

Chattanooga jumped out to an 8-2 lead -- on a pair of 3-pointers by White -- and extended the lead to double digits on Lance Stokes' layup with 8:57 in the half. The Mocs scored the last eight points to lead 46-25 at intermission.

UAB cut its deficit to nine with 6:31 remaining after a three-point play by Norton but Pryor made four consecutive free throws and Chattanooga kept UAB at arm's length the rest of the way.


Lamar holds off Rice 79-72 in OT

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) -- Tyran de Lattibeaudiere made the game-tying free throw in regulation and scored five points in overtime to help Lamar beat Rice 79-72 on Monday night.

Marcus Jackson's 3-pointer with 3:18 left in regulation gave Rice a 64-63 lead, but the Owls went scoreless the rest of the way. De Lattibeaudiere made the first of two free throws with 1:59 left to knot the game at 64.

Lamar's last-second heave was no good at the buzzer.

Rice only made two field goals in overtime, both 3-pointers, the last pulling the Owls within 75-72 with 55 seconds left. Lamar made 4 of 6 free throws in the final minute.

De Lattibeaudiere finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds for Lamar (5-6). Kevin Booze led the Cardinals with 17 points. Marcus Owens had 14, Zjori Bosha 13, Donovan Ross 12 and Anthony Holliday 10.

Jackson and Max Guercy scored 19 points apiece for Rice (3-7).


Hunter has 18 as UTEP holds on to beat Kent State 78-75

EL PASO, Texas (AP) -- Vince Hunter had 18 points and 16 rebounds as UTEP survived a late charge to knock off Kent State 78-75 to win its third consecutive Sun Bowl Invitational Monday night.

Cedrick Lang and Matt Willms had 12 apiece and Julian Washburn chipped in 10 for UTEP (8-4).

Kent State led early but the Miners took a 16-13 lead at the 12:14 mark. UTEP held a slim 44-37 halftime advantage and was up 65-52 with 6:29 remaining in the game. Kent State mounted a comeback and closed to 71-69 following Derek Jackson's 3-pointer with 1:11 remaining. C.J. Cooper answered with a jumper and made two free throws and Omega Harris sealed the win with three free throws.

Kent State's Devareaux Manley missed a 3-point attempt as time expired.

Jimmy Hall had 20 points and Derek Jackson made 4 of 6 from beyond the arc for 16 points for Kent State (8-3).


West leads Nevada to 83-55 win over Marshall to end skid

RENO, Nev. (AP) -- A.J. West scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Nevada ended an eight-game losing streak on Monday, routing Marshall 83-55.

Marqueze Coleman added 13 points and Michael Perez 12 for the Wolf Pack (3-8).

Nevada outrebounded the Thundering Herd (4-8), who shot 26 percent, 59-35. The Wolf Pack had been shooting 37 percent but shot 46 percent to score 25 points above their average.

West, who was questionable for the game after missing the previous game with a heel injury, had 15 points in the first half as the Wolf Pack took a 38-30 lead.

Nevada opened the second half with a 27-6 run as the Thundering Herd were in the process of shooting just 7 of 29 (24 percent), including 1 of 11 from 3-point range. They finished 5 of 28 beyond the arc.

Justin Edmonds led Marshall, which has lost eight of its last nine, with 10 points.
