Bynum may make debut with Cavaliers
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Andrew Bynum may see real live NBA action for the first time since the 2011-12 season.
That’s the word from Quicken Loans Arena, where the Bynum and the Cleveland Cavaliers open the season against the Brooklyn Nets.
Bynum missed all of last year with the Philadelphia 76ers with knee issues. He’s practiced with the Cavs (who he signed with this past offseason) for the past week and a half. First-year coach Mike Brown, in his second stint with the Cavs, says it looks as if Bynum is ready o go.
Bynum will go through pregame warmups, and if everything turns out OK, there’s a “chance” the 7-foot- center could play limited minutes, Brown said.
“I'm just excited about him possibly getting a taste of game action,” Brown said. “Where he goes from here, the sky is the limit. He has a lot of upside and a lot of room to grow. I’m not placing any expectations on him when he does play.”
Brown said that, should Bynum play, he will not get back in once removed from the game.
In other news, former Cavs coach Joe Prunty will coach the Nets as Jason Kidd’s fill-in. Kidd appointed Prunty prior to the game.
Kidd is serving a two-game suspension for driving while impaired in the offseason.
The game will be televised by FOX Sports Ohio and NBA TV. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
