Buster's Ready wins the Mother Goose

Buster's Ready dominated the $250,000 Mother Goose for 3-year-old fillies, beating the odds-on favorite Joyful Victory by 4-1/4 lengths Saturday at Belmont Park.

Emerging from a three-way battle on the turn, Buster's Ready took charge in the lane and pulled clear in the final eighth of a mile.

John Velazquez was aboard for trainer Todd Pletcher as Buster's Ready covered the 1-1/16 miles on turf in 1 minute, 42.44 seconds for her fourth win in nine races.

Buster's Ready paid $9.40 for a win bet.

R Gypsy Gold, also trained by Pletcher, was third.

Giants Play held off Zagora by a head in the $150,000 New York Stakes for fillies and mares on the turf. Rajiv Maragh rode for trainer Christophe Clement as the 4-year-old ran 1-1/4 miles in 2:04.76, paying $9.20 to win.
