Buffaloes bow out of Las Vegas Classic
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Dairese Gary and Kendall Williams scored 18 points apiece as New Mexico defeated Colorado 89-76 Wednesday night to advance to the championship game of the Las Vegas Classic.
Williams also had 11 assists for the Lobos (10-1), who won their eighth straight game and will play Northern Iowa on Thursday in the tournament final. Phillip McDonald added 14 points, Drew Gordon had 10 and Alex Kirk pulled down 10 rebounds.
Alec Burks had 25 points to lead the Buffaloes (7-4), who will play Indiana in a consolation game on Thursday. Marcus Relphorde added 13 points and Levi Knutson and Cory Higgins each had 10.
New Mexico, which never trailed in the game, led 41-33 at halftime and by as many as the 13-point final margin. The Lobos shot 61 percent (30 for 49) from the field and 42 percent (5 for 12) on 3-point attempts. Colorado shot at a 47 percent field goal clip (27 for 58), but hit just 5 of 22 3-point shots.
