Bucs release Peyton Hillis, promote TE Danny Noble
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released running back Peyton Hillis and promoted tight end Danny Noble from the practice squad.
Hillis, 27, was signed as an unrestricted free agent July 23 to add depth to the Bucs’ backfield. He is most known for his 2010 season with the Cleveland Browns, when he had 1,177 yards with 11 touchdowns on 270 carries. He was used exclusively in the preseason and had 147 yards on 38 carries.
With the move, Tampa Bay appears settled with its running back lineup of Doug Martin, Brian Leonard and Mike James.
Meanwhile, Noble, 24, is a former college free agent who is in his second year with the Bucs. The Toledo product played in four games last season but didn’t produce any stats.
