Bucks guard J.J. Redick received a flopping warning from the league Thursday for an incident that occurred March 30 against Oklahoma City.
With 2:29 left in the fourth quarter, Redick caught a pass from Monta Ellis and was bumped by Thunder guard Derek Fisher after a shot fake. A foul was called on Fisher, much to the dismay of Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks.
The NBA defines flopping as any physical act that appears to have been intended to cause the referees to call a foul on another player. According to league rules, "the primary factor in determining whether a player committed a flop is whether his physical reaction to contact with another player is inconsistent with what would reasonably be expected given the force or direction of the contact."
This is Redick's first violation, so it's only a warning. The second offense incurs a $5,000 fine, third offense is a $10,000 fine, fourth offense results in a $15,000 fine and a fifth offense would cost a player $30,000.
Five players have been fined $5,000 for flopping this season, while 13 others have received warnings. Bucks forward Gustavo Ayon got a warning on Dec. 26 while playing with Orlando.
