Buccaneers hire Mike Bajakian as quarterbacks coach
TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hired Mike Bajakian as their quarterbacks coach Thursday.
Bajakian, previously the offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee, worked with Bucs coach Lovie Smith from 2004 to 2006 as offensive quality control for the Chicago Bears. Before he joined Tennessee for the past two seasons, Bajakian also had notable college coaching stints as Central Michigan's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach (2007 to 2009) and Cincinnati's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach (2010 to 2012).
A native of River Vale, New Jersey, Bajakian helped guide Tennessee to a 4-1 stretch to end the most recent season, a span in which the Volunteers averaged 37 points per game. Tennessee (7-6) appeared in the Taxslayer Bowl against Iowa, and it was the programs's first bowl appearance since 2010.
Bajakian replaces Marcus Arroyo, who parted ways with the Bucs on Jan. 16.
