The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have added another to their free-agency haul: Cornerback Mike Jenkins.
Jenkins, 28, signed a one-year contract on Thursday. FOX Sports 1 NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that the deal is worth $1.5 million plus $500,000 in incentives. He becomes the second Pro Bowl cornerback to join the Bucs in free agency. The six-year veteran appeared in the event after the 2009 season, and he follows the signing of cornerback Alterraun Verner, a Pro Bowl player after last season.
Jenkins, a USF product, spent his first five NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, after he was drafted 25th overall in 2008. He appeared in 15 games with the Oakland Raiders last season, and he has 226 tackles and 10 interceptions with 49 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in his career, which has included 86 games played with 63 starts.
During his Pro Bowl season, Jenkins had 49 tackles and a career-high five interceptions. He has had at least one interception each season except for the 2012 campaign.
Jenkins' addition brings the Bucs' total to 11 free-agent signees. Previous signings include Verner, quarterback Josh McCown, defensive end Michael Johnson, offensive tackle Anthony Collins, defensive tackle Clinton McDonald, center/guard Evan Dietrich-Smith, tight end Brandon Myers, linebacker Dane Fletcher, guard Oniel Cousins and long-snapper Jeremy Cain.
