The Cowboys' win over Indianapolis came at a huge cost, as Dez Bryant's season is over after the electrifying rookie fractured his fibula on a fourth quarter kick return.
Bryant's broken ankle was confirmed by the Cowboys on Sunday night and reports indicate that he will undergo surgery on Monday.
Bryant left with 12:56 remaining in the game after the Colts' Kavell Conner rolled onto his right leg. Bryant has been dealing all season with a lingering high right ankle sprain that he suffered in training camp, and was listed as questionable heading into the game after tweaking his left ankle in practice on Friday.
Bryant was helped off the field and did not put any pressure on the leg. He headed directly into the locker room for x-rays. He had one catch on the day for 14 yards. For the season, Bryant has 45 receptions for 561 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Bryant was not the only casualty of the day for Dallas, as cornerback Orlando Scandrick suffered a concussion late in the first half. He was hurt late in the second quarter and remained on the ground several seconds after the play ended. Scandrick walked to the sideline under his own power and returned for one play before spending the rest of the game on the sideline.
Rookie Bryan McCann took Scandrick's place as the nickel corner.
Scandrick helped give the Cowboys a 17-0 lead early in the second quarter when he returned a Peyton Manning interception 40 yards for a touchdown. He is the third Cowboys corner to leave a game with injury this season, after Mike Jenkins and Terence Newman had contests cut short earlier this season.
