Bryant: Austin and I 'have the potential' to be the best WR duo in NFL
OXNARD, Calif. – Jerry Jones, Tony Romo and Dez Bryant each spent time being interviewed by former Dallas Cowboys superstar receiver Michael Irvin on Wednesday.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer was in town to talk to the Cowboys owner, quarterback and top wide receiver for segments on NFL Network.
One of the questions Irvin asked Bryant was if the duo of he and Miles Austin is the best receiving combination in the NFL.
"I feel like if we continue working the way we're working right now, we'll be one of the best," Bryant said before adjusting his answer and adding: "We are one of the best right now, we have the potential to be the best."
As Irvin pointed out, Bryant and Austin's top competition is likely in Atlanta and New York.
Atlanta's Julio Jones and Roddy White finished with a combined 2,549 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns last season. New York's Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks totaled 1,784 yards and 13 touchdowns. Bryant and Austin finished with 2,325 yards and 18 touchdowns.
The combination of Wes Welker and Demaryius Thomas in Denver could also be in the mix. It should also be noted that although they're usually not mentioned with the other top duos, Tampa Bay's Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams totaled 2,380 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2012.
