Browns Haden out, Dansby returns
CHARLOTTE-- The Browns lost one key player on defense, but get another one back.
The Browns will be without Pro Bowl cornerback Joe Haden, who bruised his shoulder in last week's loss to the Bengals.
However, they will regain the services of one of their best defensive players in Karlos Dansby.
Dansby had missed four games with a sprained knee suffered against the Texans. Dansby has 73 tackles, three interceptions and a sack.
Haden had started all 14 games until Sunday with 69 tackles, 17 pass break ups, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
Haden worked out on the field prior to the game but was unable to go.
In Haden's absence, Jordan Poyer will start at cornerback in a mild surprise over top pick Justin Gilbert, with rookies Pierre Desir and Robert Nelson backing them up.
Rookie K'Waun Williams (hamstring) is inactive.
Also inactive for the Browns are running back Glenn Winston, tight end Gary Barnidge, wide receiver Rodney Smith, offensive lineman Vinston Painter and offensive lineman Andrew McDonald.
Barnidge was drafted by the Panthers in 2008 and played five seasons in Carolina. This is his third-straight missed game.
Free safety Tashaun Gipson was placed on injured reserve on Saturday and replaced by linebacker Scott Solomon on the active roster.
