By Ross Jones, FOXSports.com It took two series for newly minted starting quarterback Brian Hoyer to leave in the Browns' 37-24 win against the Bills Thursday night. Hoyer, who was making his third start of the season, tried extending a play by running for a first down when he slid awkwardly while absorbing a hit by Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso. Hoyer laid on the turf at FirstEnergy Stadium until he was helped off by trainers. Hoyer was ruled out for the remainder of the game and is scheduled for an MRI on Friday as there is fear he may have torn ligaments, according to FOX Sports 1's Alex Marvez.

It’s a major disappointment as Hoyer was making a start in his hometown on a national stage. He was replaced by second-year quarterback Brandon Weeden. After two consecutive wins against the Vikings and Bengals, there had been a different type of buzz around the Browns' facility.
