Browns' Cameron updates injury status
BEREA, Ohio - Like his Cleveland Browns teammates, tight end Jordan Cameron is rested and relaxed after a weekend away.
He's still fighting a shoulder injury that cost him one game and has kept him limited since early August, and Cameron figures he's going to have to continue to fight it throughout the season.
"I do a lot of strengthening work, but it's one of those injuries that's going to be there for awhile," Cameron said. "It's just a nagging thing.
"You can take some hits, but it's just an AC sprain. It's a nagging injury and that's pretty much it."
Past the first quarter of the season opener, Cameron has mostly been a decoy for the Browns to this point with 3 catches for 70 yards. Last season, he went to the Pro Bowl after catching 80 passes for 917 yards and 7 touchdowns.
There's plenty at stake this season for Cameron, whose contract expires at the end of the season. He has the talent to be a top target for Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer, especially with wide receiver Josh Gordon suspended for seven more games.
There's still plenty of time for Cameron, who said he feels "good...I feel healthy," to make an impact on the Browns offense. He said he believes there's no structural damage in the shoulder and is working on playing without thinking about it.
"My goal is to get back in tip-top shape and be able to perform at the highest level that I can and win some games," he said.
