Browns, Bengals go DB
Both the Browns and the Bengals went secondary with their fifth-round picks.
The Bengals took big (6'4, 217) safety Robert Sands out of West Virginia. With both Roy Williams and Chris Crocker battling injury problems and entering their 30's, Sands has a chance to contribute right away in Cincinnati.
Sands, an early entry to the draft, had 5 of his 6 career interceptions as a sophomore in 2009.
The Browns went for cornerback Buster Skrine, a speedy project out of Tennessee-Chattanooga. Skrine is regarded as much more a speed-burner than a football player at this point, but the Browns need speed and need corners, too, with Eric Wright due for free agency and Sheldon Brown having just turned 32.
The Browns played much of last season with just two true cornerbacks on their roster.
The Browns will again have two picks in the sixth round.
