ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- The Denver Broncos have selected a quarterback for Peyton Manning to mentor, taking Brock Osweiler from Arizona State with their second pick in the second round of the NFL draft.
The team decided on versatile defensive lineman Derek Wolfe with the No. 36 overall pick on Friday night.
The 6-foot-7 Osweiler is a raw but talented quarterback, who threw for 4,036 yards and 26 TDs last season for the Sun Devils. He could be the heir apparent under center when Manning calls it a career.
After the pick, Broncos boss John Elway tweeted: "Excited that Brock Osweiler is going to be a Bronco. Very talented & will have a great opportunity to learn from one of the best."
