Brewers trade Broxton to Cardinals for minor-league outfielder

The suddenly active Milwaukee Brewers have made another trade, sending relief pitcher Jonathan Broxton and cash to the St. Louis Cardinals for minor-leaguer Malik Collymore.
The team announced the move Friday.
The right-handed Broxton is 1-2 on the year with a 5.89 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 40 games. He has 37 strikeouts and 10 walks over 36 2/3 innings, with 11 holds and one blown save. He's been stellar recently, not allowing a run in his last seven appearances and giving up just two over his past 10 with only one walk.
Collymore, a 20-year-old from Ontario, Canada, was drafted by St. Louis in the 10th round in 2013. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound outfielder was batting .216 (.704 OPS) with two home runs and seven RBI in 23 games with Johnson City, the Cardinals' rookie-league club. He also had two triples and three stolen bases. He's rated as the Cardinals' No. 27 prospect by Baseball America.
Collymore will be assigned to Milwaukee's rookie-league team, the Helena Brewers.
