Brewers release minor league pitcher Clay Hensley
The Milwaukee Brewers have released right-hander Clay Hensley after just four appearances with Triple-A Nashville.
Hensley's release clears a roster spot on the Sounds' roster for right-hander Tyler Thornburg, as he returns to Triple-A on Tuesday.
Hensley, 33, began the season in the Reds organization with Triple-A Louisville, going 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA in 18 innings before being released on May 20.
The Brewers signed him on May 27 to fill the void left by right-hander Donovan Hand's promotion to the big leagues. Hensley went 0-0 with a 3.38 ERA in 2 2/3 innings over four games with Nashville.
Hensley has appeared in 271 big league games, spending all of 2012 with the San Francisco Giants. Over the course of seven seasons, Hensley is 28-34 with a 4.00 ERA in his major-league career.
