The Milwaukee Brewers on Friday placed rightfielder Domingo Santana on the 15-day disabled list because of right shoulder soreness and recalled outfielder Keon Broxton from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Santana, 23, is batting .239 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 36 games this season, though he is just 7 for 33 in May. He missed Thursday's Brewers win over the Cubs because of the injury.

The 26-year-old Broxton was optioned to Colorado Springs on April 17 after going hitless with 11 strikeouts in 16 at-bats for Milwaukee. He has batted .301/.390/.593 in 25 games with the Sky Sox with seven home runs, 21 runs, 18 RBI and 15 stolen bases.

Broxton is batting .308 with four home runs and eight stolen bases in his past 10 games, which included a two-home run game May 13. He's batting .345/.433/.672 with 10 stolen bases and more walks (seven) than strikeouts (six) in 14 games this month.

Broxton made his major-league debut last September for the Pittsburgh Pirates and scored three runs in seven games while going 0 for 2 at the plate. The Brewers traded for Broxton and pitcher Trey Supak this past December, sending first baseman Jason Rogers to the Pirates.

Broxton is still looking for his first major-league hit, though he has scored five runs. He's hit .255 over eight minor-league seasons with 165 stolen bases.
