MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers are going gold.
Starting this season, the team will wear alternate gold jerseys, and it unveiled drawings of the design Thursday morning. This is Milwaukee's first new uniform since the team added the alternate blue "Milwaukee" jersey in 2010.
The idea to add a gold top stemmed from the overwhelming success of a similar-looking jersey the Brewers wear on their annual Cerveceros Day.
"The feedback from fans and players has been overwhelmingly positive," Brewers chief operating officer Rick Schlesinger said of the Cerveceros Day jersey in a statement. “We believe that this jersey will be a very popular style, both on the field and at our retail locations."
Players and coaches will be wearing the new uniform at the "Brewers On Deck" winter fan fest Sunday, and the jersey will be available for purchase at the event.
