MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers made a move Friday to shore up its bench for a playoff push by acquiring catcher Yorvit Torrealba from Toronto in exchange for cash.

The 34-year-old split time between Texas, where he started the year, and Toronto this season, tallying a .233 average with four home runs and 14 RBI.

Torrealba has bounced around the majors for much of his career, spending time with San Francisco, Seattle, Colorado and San Diego before this season. His best season arguably came last year with Texas when he batted .273 with seven home runs and 37 RBI in a backup role.

It's unclear what the plan is for Torrealba, considering the Brewers have been very pleased with catchers Jonathan Lucroy and Martin Maldonado, but Torrealba will be in uniform for Saturday's game against Washington.
