BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) -- A strong showing by the Bowling Green defense along with miscues by the Tulsa offense put the Falcons on top of the Golden Hurricanes 34-7 Thursday at Perry Stadium.

Tulsa mistakes were frequent and costly. Bowling Green forced two fumbles and Ryan Burbrink returned a punt 67 yards in the fourth quarter for a 34-0 lead. Tulsa also missed two field goals before finally scoring on a 27-yard pass from Dane Evans to Derek Patterson with just under six minutes remaining.

Bowling Green's balanced offense was led by quarterback Matt Johnson, who completed 11 of 23 passes for 151 yards and one interception. Travis Greene had 22 rushes for 88 yards.

The Falcon defense held Tulsa to just 51 yards rushing and gave Tulsa quarterback Cody Green little time to set up to pass. Green completed 17 of 34 passes for 172 yards.
