GREENSBORO, N.C. - Boston College will be sticking around the ACC Tournament for another day after jumping out to a comfortable early lead over Virginia Tech and finishing with a 62-49 first-round victory Thursday in the Greensboro Coliseum.

A week after watching the Hokies shoot 60 percent from the floor in the second half against them, the Eagles held Tech to 6-for-31 accuracy in the first half and cruised into Friday's quarterfinal against second-seeded Florida State.

"We came out of the first game feeling like we should have come out with the win," forward Stefanie Murphy said of the 69-64 result in Blacksburg. "Payback. It's what was due."

BC coach Sylvia Crawley said the freshness of the regular-season loss was beneficial to her club. Watching film pointed out the necessity of specific adjustments.
