Bobrovsky on the block?
Today brought multiple indications the efforts of the Columbus Blue Jackets to retain Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky were not trending in a direction likely to make fans of the CBJ happy.
The latest bearer of bad news is TSN hockey insider Darren Drager, who tweeted today that the goalie is on the trade market.
Drager's report came on the heels of a story this morning from the Columbus Dispatch that "a large gulf" remained between the player and the club after Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen and Bobrovsky's agent met yesterday.
The 24-year-old Bobrovsky is a restricted free agent following a 2013 season in which he started 38 games in net for the CBJ, posting a 21-11-6 record and a .932 save percentage. The latter figure ranked second in the NHL.
UPDATE (1:51 p.m.): Two subsequent reports from NHL reporters provide a more positive outlook.
First came a Tweet from ESPN NHL reporter Pierre LeBrun:
Not long after, Aaron Portzline of the Dispatch followed up with his own nugget:
With this being a developing story, we will bring you the latest as we have it comes.
