Bob Stoops says he shouldn't have called out fans back in 2008

Back in 2008, Texas Tech came to Norman ranked No. 2 in the nation.

The fifth-ranked Sooners smashed Tech that day, winning 65-21. By most accounts, it was the loudest the Oklahoma crowd has ever been, but it came only after coach Bob Stoops challenged the fans, called them out, suggesting home games in Norman were never that loud.

This week, with Texas Tech coming to town once more, Stoops says he regrets challenging the fans.

"Our fans have been pretty special," Stoops said to The Oklahoman earlier this week. "We've had a great year. They've been awesome. Loud, into it. Let's be great again this week."
