COLUMBUS, OHIO --- The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed right wing Jack Skille on Injured Reserve, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Skille will undergo surgery next week to repair an injured shoulder and will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2014-15 season.
Skille, 27, registered six goals and two assists for eight points and 16 penalty minutes in 45 games with the Blue Jackets this season after being claimed off waivers from the New York Islanders on October 5. In 2013-14, he collected 4-0-4 and six penalty minutes in 16 games with the Blue Jackets and added 13-11-24 and nine penalty minutes in 22 games with the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons. He added 0-1-1 in six Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Jackets.
A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Skille was Chicago's first pick, seventh overall, in the 2005 NHL Draft. He has recorded 30-31-61 and 95 penalty minutes in 239 career NHL games with the Blackhawks, Florida Panthers and Blue Jackets, including 10-2-12 and 22 penalty minutes in 61 games with Columbus.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Thursday when they host the Montreal Canadiens. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET.
