ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Birdlover led all the way to win the $75,000 Wishing Well Stakes for older fillies and mares by a half-length Sunday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Elvis Trujillo, Birdlover ran 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course in 1:13.22 and paid $8.60, $4.80 and $3.20.

Indecise returned $9.80 and $4.40, while Fanticola was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.80 to show.

Birdlover had been idle since finishing second last year in the Wishing Well for trainer Doug O'Neill.

The victory, worth $47,100, increased Birdlover's career earnings to $219,535, with four wins in 14 starts.

O'Neill said there had been talk of retiring Birdlover after she broke her upper hind leg, but his assistant suggested surgery and bringing her back.
