Bird is the Word Podcast: Falcons return from bye with Bucs rematch
ATLANTA -- The Falcons finished the first half of their season with a 2-6 record and a week of rest after returning from a "home" game in London.
Now that its bye week is over, Atlanta returned to practice on Monday and has a tough road ahead. The expectations laid on this team were much higher than the results have shown, and the Falcons have eight games to turn things around.
That process begins with a Week 10 visit to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team Atlanta punished 56-14 in Week 3.
Don't expect another cake walk, however, especially on the road.
Since 2008, the Falcons are 3-3 on the road against Tampa Bay, and it's very easy to imagine that the Buccaneers will be in the mood for a little bit of payback from the earlier 42-point drubbing.
The Falcons haven't won since Week 3. Can they use another game against the Buccaneers to get back on track?
It's as much of a must-win as can be. Atlanta's schedule doesn't get any easier after the team is done with Tampa Bay. Momentum in needed, and it's needed in droves.
