The tournament will then move to Joe Louis Arena in Detroit for 2015, before returning to Saint Paul in 2016.

In 2011, the Big Ten Council of Presidents/Chancellors instituted men's hockey as an official Big Ten conference sport with the first season coming in 2013-14. That included the creation of the conference tournament, with the winner receiving the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
All six Big Ten hockey teams – Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin – will all participate in the tournament, starting with quarterfinal action on Thursday. The top two seeds will receive byes into Friday's semifinals.
