Bergquist, NC State rout UNC Wilmington
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Ethan Ogburn finished one out shy of a complete game, and Matt Bergquist drove in six runs to help North Carolina State beat UNC Wilmington 17-5 on Sunday in an elimination game in the Raleigh Regional.
Bergquist had a two-run double in a seven-run fourth then added a three-run homer in the eighth for the top-seeded Wolfpack (41-18). Andrew Ciencin also had a three-run homer and finished with four RBIs.
Ogburn (5-3) allowed nine hits and five runs in 8 2/3 innings.
N.C. State regrouped from a loss to Vanderbilt on a walk-off single Saturday by getting 22 hits against the Seahawks (39-23), setting up a rematch with the Commodores later Sunday.
Mat Batts (6-5) took the loss, allowing eight hits and eight runs in 3 1/3 innings.
Matt Campbell had a solo home run while Tyler Molinaro had two RBIs for third-seeded UNC Wilmington.
