Benson Henderson gets married three weeks before Thomson fight
And the best part was, nobody booed. We think.
Former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson got married Friday night in Phoenix, just over three weeks before his FOX UFC Saturday main event against Josh Thomson on Jan. 25 in Chicago. Pictures were all over Twitter on Friday and Saturday and Bendo and his bride looked great. No sign of a toothpick in his mouth either.
Odd time for a wedding, though. Henderson and the former Maria Magana will likely have to wait until after the bout for the honeymoon. And we're not too sure if cake is in the Arizona native's training camp diet.
It doesn't seem like it was a big, gaudy affair. Henderson isn't that kind of guy. But UFC play-by-play man Mike Goldberg and former WEC owner and current UFC VP Reed Harris did make an appearance. We had no idea Henderson and Goldie were so tight. Best bros, apparently.

Henderson, 30, famously (infamously?) proposed to Magana after successfully defending his lightweight title against Gilbert Melendez in April on FOX. It was a sweet moment, but the San Jose crowd actually booed Henderson when he got down on one knee. Melendez is from San Jose and the crowd thought he, not Henderson, won the fight by decision.
If Henderson beats Thomson, he's got a pretty good chance to get a rematch with Anthony Pettis for the title. Pettis stunned him with a submission in the first round at UFC 164 in Milwaukee.
Either way, we'll see how married life treats Henderson in three weeks.
