Bengals sign Devon Still to roster

The Bengals Wednesday signed DT Devon Still to the roster from the Cincinnati practice squad. Still (6-5, 310; Penn State) is a third-year NFL player. He played in 18 games for Cincinnati over 2012-13 and opened this season on the practice squad after being with the team in preseason.

"We have an open roster spot, and this is the best football move we can make to fill it," said head coach Marvin Lewis. "We think Devon is ready to rejoin our line rotation and be productive. It already was stated that a big reason Devon opened on the practice squad was that he couldn't fully focus on football this preseason. He had to take care of his daughter (Leah, four, diagnosed with cancer). But Devon has told us he feels ready to contribute now, so it's the right move at the right time. And we've told Devon he can still be afforded the personal time he needs to attend to his daughter's care."

Also today, the Bengals signed two first-year players, CB Onterio McCalebb and TE Ryan Otten to the practice squad.

McCalebb (5-10, 175; Auburn) is a first-year player. He was waived from the Bengals roster on Monday, after playing briefly in the season opener at Baltimore. He spent the 2013 season on the Cincinnati practice squad.

Otten (6-6, 241; San Jose State) was with the San Diego Chargers this past preseason. He played in the first three games, with one catch for 15 yards, and was waived on Aug. 26. He spent most of the 2013 season on the Chargers practice squad.
