The Cincinnati Bengals have signed center Jeff Faine to a one-year deal.
Following a foot injury to starter Kyle Cook, the Bengals needed help at center. Faine passed his physical yesterday and signed after a workout for Cincinnati.
The move provides immediate veteran leadership for the offensive line, as Faine has spent 10 years in the league.
Faine, a 6'3", 291-pound center from Notre Dame, was a first-round draft pick by Cleveland in 2003, the 21st overall pick. He started 36 games over three seasons with the Browns before being traded to New Orleans in 2006. After two seasons in New Orleans, he signed with Tampa Bay as an unrestricted free agent. He started 49 games in Tampa Bay, and was released on March 14 of this year.
