Badgers ride five-goal second to victory in Big Ten opener against Wolverines
After two months of non-conference action, the Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team won, 7-4, against the Michigan Wolverines in Friday's weekend opener in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Wisconsin (8-6-1 overall, 1-0-0-0 Big Ten) rallied from a 2-0 deficit, scoring five goals in the second period to put away their Big Ten opener. Will Johnson and Luke Kunin scored twice, while Trent Frederic, Aidan Cavallini and Matthew Freytag also tallied goals for the Badgers.
The Wolverines' Sam Piazza scored twice. Luke Martin and Cutler Martin also lit the lamp for Michigan State (6-8-1 overall, 0-3-0-0 Big Ten).
The teams face off again Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT for the weekend finale.
