Badgers hockey ties Buckeyes
At Madison, Wisconsin's seniors played with pride on Friday night, helping the Badgers' men's hockey squad salvage a 2-all tie against visiting Ohio State.
Wisconsin senior Brad Navin led the way, producing a pair of goals. Navin sent the game into an extra session when he lit the lamp at 16:03 of the third period, on a goal that was assisted by Joseph LaBate and Adam Rockwood.
The Badgers, now 4-24-5 overall and 2-14-3-2 in Big Ten play, also got a pair of assists from LaBate and Rockwood, as well as 32 saves from senior netminder Landon Peterson.
Ohio State had enjoyed leads of 1-0 and 2-1 on Friday, off goals from Tyler Lundey and Matthew Weis.
Ohio State went on to capture an extra point in the Big Ten standings with a 4-3 shootout win in 10 rounds.
The Badgers and Buckeyes (12-18-3 overall, 7-11-1-1 Big Ten) return to action at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Kohl Center, in the regular-season finale. Wisconsin will recognize its six seniors, as it will be the last home games for Chase Drake, LaBate, Navin, Matt Paape, Peterson and Joel Rumpel.
