The Badgers WCHA tournament hopes were crushed Sunday after a 3-2 overtime loss to the Denver Pioneers.
Mark Zengerle got the Badgers on the board first with a shorthanded goal in the second period, but Denver tied the game shortly after with a goal from Ty Loney. Wisconsin went into the second intermission with a 2-1 lead after a late goal by Tyler Barnes, but Denver was able to tie the game again with a power-play goal two minutes into the third period. The game-winning goal was scored quickly in the overtime period by Denver's Luke Salazar, and gave the Pioneers the 3-2 victory.
Badgers goaltender Joel Rumpel finished the game 30 saves, and the team was outshot 33-26 in the game.
