At Ann Arbor, Mich., No. 17 Michigan got the best of the Wisconsin men's hockey squad on Friday night, dealing the visiting Badgers a 3-0 defeat.
Zach Werenski and Zach Hyman did the damage for Michigan, as both Wolverines stars produced a goal and an assist.
With the loss, Wisconsin fell to 4-21-4 overall and 2-11-2-2 in Big Ten play. The Badgers are now 1-8-1 away from Madison this season.
The key moment in Friday's contest came at 7:28 of the third period, when Michigan's Werenski lit the lamp, handing the hosts a 2-0 lead. Later, Michigan's J.T. Compher added a late-game, empty-net goal.
The Wolverines, who entered the weekend ranked 19th in the all-important PairWise rankings, got 22 saves from netminder Steve Racine in their shutout victory.
Wisconsin was paced by senior goalie Joel Rumpel's 31 saves. Saturday marked the second straight game in which Wisconsin was shut out. Wisconsin had late-game scoring opportunities Friday, yet couldn't convert.
The Badgers and Wolverines (18-11-0, 10-5-0-0 Big Ten) finish their weekend series at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Ann Arbor.
