Senior forward Luke Salazar broke a 1-1 tie at 12:53 of the third period, and Denver University went on to win, 3-1, against visiting Wisconsin in Game 2 of a best-of-three first-round WCHA playoff series Saturday night.

The Pioneers (22-12-4, 16-8-4 WCHA) added an empty-net goal with less than a minute left and will face the Badgers in a decisive Game 3 on Sunday. The winner of that contest will advance to Thursday's quarterfinals of the WCHA Final Five in Minneapolis.

All of the scoring Saturday night was in the third period. Wisconsin's Justin Schultz knocked in his 16th goal of the year at the 6:54 mark to bring about the 1-1 tie. The Badgers (17-17-2, 11-15-2 WCHA) beat Denver, 1-0, in Friday’s Game 1.
