COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) Australia goes into the third and final cricket test against Sri Lanka 0-2 down but winning the match starting Saturday may help retain its No.1 ranking and end a losing streak in Asia.

Captain Steve Smith says his batsmen need to find answers facing Sri Lanka's spinners at the Sinhalese Sports Club to prove that they can play well in Asia.

Australia lost the first two tests by 106 runs and 229 runs respectively when they proved unable to tell which delivery would spin and which would skid on. They have now lost their last eight matches in Asia.

A 1-2 score line in the series will help Australia stay in contention for the top rank depending on how India, England and Pakistan perform in their current test series.
