Auburn's Cinmeon Bowers suspended for potential rules violation

NASHVILLE -- Auburn forward Cinmeon Bowers is suspended for the team's SEC Tournament semifinal game against the top-seeded Kentucky Wildcats, the school announced minutes before tip-off on Saturday.

Auburn coach Bruce Pearl suspended Bowers after being made aware of a potential rules violation following the team's win over LSU on Friday night. The staff's is continuing to gather facts in the case, according to the statement.

Bowers, a 6-foot-7 junior college transfer for the Tigers, is one of the team's most effective low-post player. In 34 games played, he's averaging 12.1 points and 9.6 rebounds.

Devin Waddell, a 6-foot-5 walk-on, started in Bowers's place. The Tigers were already down one player entering Saturday's mammoth matchup after losing 6-foot-8 forward Jordon Granger due to an ejection in the LSU win.

Prior to the suspension, Kentucky entered the game as 23-point favorites.
