Atlanta sports stars raise money for urban youths

ATLANTA -- A group of Atlanta-based and national sports celebrities, past and present, helped raise approximately $40,000 at

the Chris Singleton Foundation's "Strikes For A Cause" charity bowling event on Thursday night.



At 300 Atlanta, one of the metro area's most popular bowling alleys, current Braves Brian McCann, Freddie Freeman

and Kris Medlen, former Braves Ron Gant, Tommy Hanson, Javy Lopez, Mark DeRosa, Marquis Grissom, Brian Jordan,

former Falcons Alge Crumpler and Chris Crocker, along with former stars from various sporting realms (Carl Pickens,

Pro Football Hall of Famer Chris Doleman, among others) mingled with valued donors for a night of food, drinks,

pictures, autographs and silent-auction prizes.



The benefit aided the "15" Program of Essential2Life, an organization that strives to "create life-change for urban

youths, through mentoring and educational/career opportunity programs."



Former NFL player Morgan Trent (Bengals, Colts, Jaguars) captained the winning bowling team at the "Strikes" outing.

His victorious teammates were Brian Bell, Christy Bell, Casey Bell and Joe Cobb.
