ASU's Boyd 1 of 3 finalists for Player of Year

OKLAHOMA CITY – Arizona State senior shortstop Katelyn Boyd is one of three finalists for the 11th annual USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Year Award. Boyd was also a finalist last year for the award, chosen in voting by coaching representatives, media and previous award recipients.

The other finalists are California's Valerie Arioto and Oklahoma's Keilani Ricketts.

Boyd, a four-year starter for the reigning national champions, ranks second in teh NCAA with 72 runs scored, fifth with a .571 on-base percentage, seventh in batting average (.444) and 12th in home runs (19).

She'll lead the second-ranked Sun Devils into this weekend's Super Regional action against No. 10 Louisiana on Friday and Saturday nights.

The winner of the award will be announced on May 29, prior to the start of the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
