ASU softball wins on Boyd's walk-off homer

TEMPE, Ariz. --
Katelyn Boyd came up big for Arizona State softball on Sunday, hitting a walk-off homer in the bottom of the eighth to give the Sun Devils a 3-1 win over Creighton.

With the win, ASU improved to 20-2 on the season.
 
After a four-inning pitchers' duel, Creighton (8-6) struck first in the top of the fifth when Blair Lowe came home on a wild pitch after reaching via a walk. The Bluejays held the lead for just one inning, though, as ASU's Amber Freeman tied it at 1-1 in the sixth with her fourth home run of the year.
 
Using international tiebreaker rules in the extra frame, ASU starter Dallas Escobedo notched a pair of strikeouts to end Creighton's threat with a runner on second. Escobedo finished the game with 11 strikeouts overall.
 
In the bottom of the eighth, Bailey Wigness was placed at second with Katelyn Boyd leading off. With a 2-2 count, Boyd launched a two-run homer to right-center to give the Devils the win.
