TEMPE, Ariz. – Completing a perfect opening weekend at 7-0, the No. 4 Arizona State softball team shut out Bradley 3-0 and followed with a no-hitter against Boise State for 10-0, six-inning victory Sunday at the Kajikawa Classic.

The Sun Devils’ 7-0 start represents the program’s best since 2007, when ASU won its first 15 games in head coach Clint Myers’ second season at the helm.

ASU put up some big numbers at the plate at the event, hitting .351 with 12 home runs while outhitting opponents 66-20. Elizabeth Caporuscio has a team-best .571 average and 12 hits, and junior transfer Cheyenne Coyle hit .474 with five home runs and a team-best 10 RBI.

Alix Johnson hit her first homer of the season against Boise State, tying her for 15th all-time at ASU.

The pitching staff was similarly dominant. Dallas Escobedo went 4-0 with a 0.28 ERA in 24 2/3 innings pitched, starting Sunday's no-hitter that was finished off by Alexis Cooper. The no-hitter was the 23rd in ASU’s program history. Mackenzie Popescue earned three wins over the weekend, tying her career-best strikeout mark with eight in a shutout win against Western Michigan.

The Sun Devils remain at Farrington Stadium next week, hosting the Littlewood Classic starting Feb. 15. ASU opens play with a doubleheader against Northern Iowa and Michigan State.
