LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Kyle Anderson scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead UCLA to an 87-72 victory over Arizona State on Sunday night.
Anderson recorded his ninth double-double of the season as the Bruins (13-3, 2-1 Pac 12) beat the Sun Devils (13-4, 2-2) for the seventh time in their last eight games.
Zach LaVine scored 19 points, Jordan Adams added 15 points, Bryce Alford finished with 13 and Norman Powell had 11 for the Bruins.
UCLA went on a 14-0 run to take a 20-12 lead following a 3-pointer by LaVine with 12:11 remaining in the opening half. LaVine scored 15 of his 19 points in the first 20 minutes as the Bruins took a 50-33 advantage into the break.
UCLA outrebounded ASU 42-29 and went 7 of 12 (58.3 percent) from 3-point range to improve to 11-1 at home this season.
Jermaine Marshall scored 25 points and Jordan Bachynski added 14 for the Sun Devils. Marshall has scored 20 or more points six times this season.
ASU jumped out to a 12-6 lead following a 3-pointer by Marshall at the 15:33 mark of the first half.
But UCLA responded with a 14-0 spurt, highlighted by two 3-pointers by LaVine, to take a 20-12 lead with 12:11 left in the opening half.
LaVine continued with the hot hand, as he scored four consecutive baskets for UCLA to increase the Bruins' lead to 37-20 lead with 5:44 left in the half. UCLA upped its lead to 41-21 following a basket by Adams with 4:36 remaining.
The Bruins used good ball movement, effective passing and an aggressive defense to create separation.
ASU cut the lead to 73-64 on a basket by Shaquielle McKissic with 6:25 to play, but Alford followed with two baskets to up the lead to double digits and allow the Bruins to hold off the Sun Devils' late charge.
ASU's leading scorer coming into the game, Jahii Carson -- averaging 18.6 points per game -- was held to nine points on 4-of-17 shooting. Jonathan Gilling scored 10 points for the Sun Devils.
Bachynski also had two blocked shots and moved into second place on the all-time blocked shots list in the Pac-12 with 259, passing Channing Frye. Bachynski needs 20 more blocks to pass Anthony Cook of Arizona and become the all-time leader.
ASU was attempting to record its first sweep of the Los Angeles schools (Southern California and UCLA) on the road since the 1986-87 season. The Sun Devils defeated the Trojans 79-60 on Thursday but fell short on Sunday.
The Bruins won the battle of the boards by a 42-29 margin and are now 11-0 this season when outrebounding their opponent. UCLA also forced 14 turnovers.
ASU, which leads the Pac-12 in 3-point field goals, went 10 of 25 from beyond the arc and has now made 143 3-pointers on the season.
