Arizona State landed a verbal commitment from Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic defensive lineman Connor Humphreys on Saturday night, giving the Sun Devils a pledge from one of the top-rated recruits in the state of Oregon.

Humphreys, who announced his decision in a press conference streamed online, chose ASU from among a final five that also included USC, UCLA, Oregon State and Wisconsin. A 6-foot-4, 265-pounder, Humphreys is a three-star recruit according to Scout.com and the No. 44 defensive end in the nation. He also had offers from Cal, Boise State and Tennessee.

Shortly before Humphreys announced his commitment, Las Vegas Bishop Gorman defensive back Armand Perry announced on Twitter that he had committed to ASU over Cal. Perry, also a three-star recruit, is rated the No. 96 cornerback in the nation and the No. 3 prospect in Nevada.

Earlier in the day, Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton defensive end Qualen Cunningham, a consensus four-star recruit and the No. 17 defensive end in the nation according to Scout, included ASU among a top-five list. Also included were Oregon, USC, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

With the two pledges, ASU now has 13 nonbinding commitments in its 2014 class, including two from four-star recruits and 10 from three-star recruits.
