ASU announces uniform combinations for season
Arizona State announced Friday its football uniform combinations for the upcoming season, with the highlights including a blackout against Wisconsin and a "Maroon Monsoon" against USC.
The third annual blackout game will be held Sept. 14, when the Badgers Sun Devil Stadium, and the second Maroon Monsoon will be on Sept. 28, when the Devils host the Trojans.
For the second consecutive season, fans and ASU students will have the opportunity to choose the team’s uniform combinations for two games, with this year's up-for-vote contests being the Oct. 12 game against Colorado for fans and the Nov. 16 contest against Oregon State for students. Each contest will include three uniform combinations from which to choose, and voting will be conducted via the web and social media.
“Community engagement and outreach is a large component of the Sun Devil way, and we are always striving to create memorable experiences for our fans,” athletic director Steve Patterson said in a statement. “We want our supporters to be proud of what they are watching on the field, and uniforms are a part of that final product.”
Fans are encouraged to wear gold to the other five home games: the Sept. 5 season opener against Sacramento State, Oct. 12 against Colorado, Oct. 19 against Washington, Nov. 16 against Oregon State and Nov. 30 against Arizona.
The Devils will wear traditional home uniforms (gold helmets, maroon jerseys, gold pants) for the season opener against Sacramento State and for homecoming on Oct. 19 against Washington.
The team’s seniors will choose the uniforms for the season finale against Arizona.
